The Hamburg Exchanges - Separate
Entities Under One Roof
The Hamburg Exchange stands for a wide
range of varied markets associated under one
name organised on the basis of the stock
market principle for the purpose of trading.
In this sense, the Hamburg Exchange Internet
platform serves as a source and hub of trade
information. One part of the Hamburg
Exchange comprises the five individual
Hamburg exchange institutions, that is the
Allgemeine Börse (general exchange), the
Stock Exchange, the Insurance Exchange, the
Grain Exchange and the Coffee Exchange.
Trading
is carried out according to the general
rules and regulations of the Hamburg
Exchange as well as the rules and
regulations of the individual trade
exchanges. In its function as the legally
responsible body of the Hamburg Exchange the
Hamburg Chamber of Commerce is a member of
the exchange commission in charge of
coordinating superordinate stock exchange
matters. One of the exchange commission's
primary tasks, beyond acting as a platform
for the exchange of information and
settlement of differing interests arising
among the individual exchanges, is the
development of future-oriented projects
geared towards strengthening Hamburg as an
exchange marketplace. The information
exchanges of the Hamburg Exchange, currently
11 in number, are also united under the
umbrella organisation of the Hamburg
Exchange. The virtual offers of these
information exchanges bring together supply
and demand markets for the purpose of doing
business and making commitments.
