THE HAMBURG GRAIN EXCHANGE

Publishing contracts and setting up conditions of contract are two major fields of work carried out by the Hamburg Grain Exchange. Access to an overview of current contracts and form conditions can be found on the VdG web site under the listing Grain Exchange. The VdG forwards contract documents on request.

Institutional arbitration is a valuable service offered by the VdG to and for its members. Three arbitrators (generally businessmen) and a legal counsel preside at hearings together with the parties involved. It is incumbent upon the representative and his observers to reach a verdict.

The large number of regular arbitration cases reflects the confidence and trust placed in this method of resolving contract disputes. On average a total of 70 to 80 hearings are settled each year.

The Grain Traders' Association endeavours to avoid disputes and proceedings in courts of arbitration by employing counsel and exchange to mediate in cases where necessary.

The Grain Traders' Association (VdG) is divided into eight spacific categories  according to the various product groups and trading areas, all of which meet regularly to discuss current issues or problems.
