THE ALLGEMEINE BÖRSE
(GENERAL EXCHANGE)
Closing real estate transactions with no more than a handshake
The Allgemeine Börse (general exchange), considered the origin of all other
individual exchanges, is primarily used by property companies and estate agents.
Some 130 Hamburg-based estate agents and brokers meet every Thursday in Room III
of the Hamburg Exchange from 1:30 to 2 P.M. for the sole purpose of exchanging
information and opinions, as well as trading.
This tradition has carried on into present-day business practice and Hamburg
estate agents consider their midday gathering obligatory. While the advantages
of worldwide online communication and sophisticated electronic technology are
indispensable nothing can take the place of the personal contacts cultivated at
the Hamburg Exchange, and they are imminently important in the real estate
business.
Business trading at the Allgemeine Börse is based on the rules
and regulations and schedule of fees of the aforementioned as well as on the
exchange statute (German
only).
